Biology 3 Ring Binder Evaluation Rubric

This  rubric is used by the teacher to evaluate student notebooks. If the task has been completed, all points are awarded. No points are awarded if the task is not complete. Although this rubric is completed by the teacher only, students should keep these criteria in mind when working on their notebook.

When the binder  is turned in for grading, all "extra" pages have been removed and all papers are secured  into the binder. 5 -
Neatness:  The portfolio should reflect the pride the student takes in their work and the desire they have to be successful in the class. 5  
Daily Entry
15 points
Each day of class is clearly identified: such as "Monday - September 5, 2000". 5 -
There is a diary-like entry every day, giving the student's reactions and impressions about class activities and interactions.  10 -
Notes
10 points
Class notes, when taken, are either written in ink or typed.
They should be neat, legible, and complete.

Assignments

These include homework, classwork, coloring sheets, and quizzes.
All assignments should be complete and editted with correct answers.

Student Products

Products are placed into the binder in order.  They include essays, labs, research papers, and projects. 10 -
Student Progress
25 points
There is obvious improvement in the quality of the student's work during the quarter represented by the binder. 20 -
There is an overall improvement in the presentation of the binder  from one quarter to the next. When this comparison doesn't apply, the 5 point are added to the line above. 5 -

Evaulation Student binders will be checked by the teacher and a grade recorded at least twice during - once at about mid-term and once at the end of the term.
